When the Warrior Met Coal Company needed an elevated water storage tank COMPLETED IN 90 DAYS; a tank capable of supporting a new 10,000 foot-deep coal mine with potable water; a tank that could serve 400 miners and offer fire protection water; they knew just who to call: steel plate fabricators! Amplifying the demand of this schedule challenge, Caldwell had to utilize ground improvement technologies just to make the foundation suitable for this elevated water storage tank.
Notably, this tank with its powerful load towers at OVER 200 FEET in total height. Considering the underlying geotechnical conditions we had to tackle along with the foundation system and sheer height of this tank, this project is extraordinary. We had to speed up the typical schedule that can take about a year to just three months; all while timely meeting every compliance regulation that the Mine Safety and Health Administration strictly requires.
The outstanding responsiveness and skills of steel suppliers, safety personnel, and designers became crucial to fast-tracking this project’s remarkable success.
