Schwan’s had an interesting problem. Their plant in Salina, Kansas could make about 100 million pizzas a year for numerous brands; and along with that came a wastewater stream so acidic, their carbon steel tanks were degrading rapidly. After all, tomatoes like most fruits are acidic. Consider that with the amount of tomato products a plant like this processes, that wastewater won’t make it out untouched. That’s why Schwan’s called for Caldwell’s services, upgrading to two new 30-foot x 30-foot Stainless Steel Tanks.
